The Student Leadership Council (SLC) may sound like some scary, formal, or uptight deal, but in reality it's just a way for students to connect and share their experiences as Students at the Illinois Institute of Art Chicago. As part of the SLC, you will have the ability to set up and lead your own events and develop as an overall leader.
- You must be a Student at AI (done deal right?)
- You should attend at least one SLC meeting a quarter or meet with Adam (so you can get your ideas heard).
Back to what I was saying, SLC experience goes on your resume which is great for those of us without jobs. I’ve been told my numerous employers and instructors that they will hire or fire people based on their Leadership Skills and interest in outside activities. Clubs and Student Leadership bodes well for your chances at finding your niche as well as exposing you to new ideas. Also, who couldn’t stand to make new friends with common interests?
If you have any questions or you would like more information, please feel free to email me or Adam Patricoski (Student Development and an awesome contact), or even click on the provided links below.
Remember, we are in an industry geared school. The people around you might be the ones to hire or be hired by you in the future. Make connections now and land your dream job in the future!
Thanks for reading and Good Luck!
