The Student Handbook Describes the SLC in greater detail:
The Student Leadership Council works to enhance and unify the college experience by providing an opportunity for growth and personal development of students through both planning and participation in social, cultural, and educational events that complement The Illinois Institute of Chicago’s academic mission.
The main goals of the SLC include:
• To help organize student activities and events at the college and in the community to promote student involvement.
• To Support other student organizations and work collaboratively with these organizations.
• To facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among students.
• To provide leadership opportunities for students within the college.

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) may sound like some scary, formal, or uptight deal, but in reality it's just a way for students to connect and share their experiences as Students at the Illinois Institute of Art Chicago. As part of the SLC, you will have the ability to set up and lead your own events and develop as an overall leader.
Back to what I was saying, SLC experience goes on your resume which is great for those of us without jobs. I’ve been told my numerous employers and instructors that they will hire or fire people based on their Leadership Skills and interest in outside activities. Clubs and Student Leadership bodes well for your chances at finding your niche as well as exposing you to new ideas. Also, who couldn’t stand to make new friends with common interests?
If you have any questions or you would like more information, please feel free to email me or Adam Patricoski (Student Development and an awesome contact), or even click on the provided links below.
Remember, we are in an industry geared school. The people around you might be the ones to hire or be hired by you in the future. Make connections now and land your dream job in the future!
Thanks for reading and Good Luck!
